In less than a week after the House approved a tentative compromise deal to raise the nation’s debt ceiling, former Clinton administration aides rebuked President Obama’s negotiation strategies that heavily favored the Republicans.
The former aides felt that Obama–unlike Clinton–lacked an effective communications strategy which resulted in a major deal that basically gave Republicans what they wanted. According to one aide,” Clinton’s approach to strategic messaging was different. I believe that Obama could have done things differently that would have worked better.”
